BIOGRAPHY
Having first become a member of the National Youth Orchestra of GB and the National Youth Jazz
Orchestra Carl took up scholarship places at Purcell School, Royal College of Music and Guildhall
School of Music on clarinet saxophone and piano.
In his years working and training in London Carl worked as pianist at many Hotels including:
Dorchester,Mayfair,Basil Street and the Savoy. Carl has played under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle' Matrthius Bammert, Sir Colin Davies, Benjamin Zander and Witold Lutaslawski; been soloist and 1st clainettist with orchestras such as the Philharmonia Ulster Orchestra and LPO; appeared at venues with jazz and classical ensembles including the Proms @ Royal Albert Hall/Queen Elizabeth Hall/Blue Note Jazz Club(New York) and Buckingham Palace (Royal invitation).
Carl has collaborated with many artists over the years including The Ellington family and bigband (NY);James Galway, Oscar Peterson; Art Farmer; Ornette Coleman; Don Cherry; Elvin Jones;Jack Brymer, Ike Turner, David Leibman, Robert Farnon, David Soul and Marion McPartland to name but a few!
Carl currently is a dep teacher @ CYM in London; keys/vocalist for UK agencies such as AP Production and ST Management;accompanist for an array of musicians and institutions including 'Music in Hospitals' and Guildhall School London; pianist at the Grand Hotel(Eastbourne) Cafe Relax and Porters (Hastings); playing in various shows as a 'pit' musician (Eg: 'Copacabana'@ De lar War Theatre Bexhill and 'Anything Goes'@ Congress Theatre Eastbourne and 'Joseph' this July in Brighton); 1st clarinettist with the Sussex Symphony Orchestra (last week Carl played at St Bartholemew's Church Brighton in a concert filmed on TV by British Airways!).
