John Curtis (violin / trumpet / flugelhorn)

John Trelawney (Curtis); BA, BEng, PGCE, MifL, MBBBA.

Violin aged seven, played in many Festivals and Orchestras - even got a Bronze Medal at age 12 in an individual under 21 Nth East Open competition (hooray).

Started trumpet in teens, ran own 'mainstream' band at the South Bank Jazz Club in Grimsby - played venues across the Nth East.

Later moved to London and joined saxophonist Ian Bird to form the Bird Curtis Quintet; played for BBC 'Jazz Club' (live with Humph), local Radios London, Brighton and Leeds; played Festivals in France and Switzerland (Zurich Jazz Festival), toured France/Germany - four times Switzerland; most UK venues including Universities and Ronnies 'Old Place'.

Joined and helped form Rock Band Dogwatch headlining Marquee (twice), Music Machine, 100 Club, Dingwalls etc, Indie Singles and an Album on Bridgehouse Records.

Very much into playing original material with emphasis on strong rhythms and Band empathy to provide excitement and interest.

Qualified Engineer and Lecturer.
